Venues and Spaces
Our two fringe venues are located in Edinburgh's Old Town – just round the corner from the Royal Mile and the Fringe Office. Owing to Edinburgh's peculiar geography one of them sits immediately above another, but with entrances separated by a few hundred yards.
Paradise in Augustines is a church during the rest of the year and is converted for the festival period. It houses our largest spaces and has a higher technical specification. These spaces tend to be programmed with more established groups and/or works.
Paradise in The Vault has a purpose built small-scale theatre space as the main performance area, and a second space that is converted anew each year. This venue tends to cater for smaller scale and more experimental productions.
|The Sanctuary||The Studio||The Vault||The Annexe|
|The Sanctuary seats 110 and is our largest performance space. It is a beautiful and flexible space making it particularly suitable for larger scale works.||The Studio seats up to 107 depending on chosen layout. It is our most flexible space and features a wide stage.||The cosy 42-seat performance space within The Vault is framed by a stone archway that creates a proscenium arch feel in an authentic Fringe space.||Our smallest space, The Annexe, seats 40 and has a black box stage which you can transform to suit your performance.|
Viewing the Venues
If you wish to have a look round the venues, we can usually arrange for somebody to show you round.
In the case of the Studio and the Vault, the space is very much the same outside the Fringe as during it; but we do substantial building in all the other spaces each year, so if you come to view any of them, you will be able to get only a general impression of the room.
Please phone or email us to arrange a time.
