Our three venues are located in Edinburgh's Old Town - just round the corner from the Royal Mile and the Fringe Office. Owing to Edinburgh's peculiar geography one of them sits immediately above another, but with entrances separated by a few hundred yards. The route between these two takes you nearly past the third venue.
Paradise in Augustine's is a church during the rest of the year and is converted for the festival period. It houses our largest spaces and has a higher technical specification. These spaces tend to be programmed with more established groups and/or works.
(Paradise in Augustine's is only programmed by us for Fringe events. For year-round hire queries please visit the Augustine United Church website)
Paradise in The Vault has a purpose built small-scale theatre space as the main performance area, and a second space that is converted anew each year.
This venue tends to cater for smaller scale and more experimental productions.
(Under the name The Vault it is also available for hire year-round. Please visit The Vault website for further details)
Our newest venue, Paradise in the Kirkhouse is in a brand-new community centre, just opened in 2013; this year it contains one space, of intermediate size.
Note that our programming policy is flexible and we will attempt to programme according to the needs of the show and group, not by hard and fast rules.
Viewing the venues.
If you wish to have a look round the venues, we can usually arrange for somebody to show you round. In Paradise in the Kirkhouse this will usually need to be within working hours, but we may be able to be more flexible with the other venues.
In the case of the Studio and the Vault, the space is very much the same outside the Fringe as during it; but we do substantial building in all the other spaces each year, so if you come to view any of them, you will be able to get only a general impression of the room.
Please phone or email us to arrange a time.
